You may recall that the president has a meme coin, $TRUMP. Days before his second inauguration, the presidentwho told Fox News in his first term that he was not a big fan of cryptocurrencies, which he deemed possibly fakemade his own foray into crypto.
The meme coins value quickly rocketed to around $75. It dropped shortly thereafter but saw a bump in April when Trump announced the most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the world: for the top 220 investors in $TRUMP coin to enjoy a private dinner with the president at his Virginia golf club.
Since then, the Trump coins value has slumped again, to $9, having sunk 88 percent from its January high.
You may also recallif you strain your memory furtherthat the first lady, Melania Trump, is in the meme coin business as well. Her $MELANIA coin has followed a similar trajectory to her husbands coin, seeing a precipitous, 98 percent decline in value from its $8.50 peak in mid-January.

Some analysts described it as a pump and dump scheme, and a "disaster". A forensic analysis commissioned by The New York Times concluded that 813,294 wallets lost $2 billion by trading the coin while the president's company and partners profited about $100 million from trading fees.

(3,860 posts)always about how the scam people with it. Their profit comes from the scam, not from the value of things, I do believe that by now all involved know that whatever trump touches goes to crap, so they take advantage of the "moment", which is usually its initial launch to a few months, and then they just abandon it because the only passion they have is to scam people, they can walk away with having made $100 millions and just let it die to move to the next scam.

(578 posts)This fits his MO to a T. Another rug pull, aka pump and dump.
It was openly traded on crypto exchanges (I saw it on Coinbase a while ago). Im not sure why anyone suspected anything other than it being a typical meme coin. Wasnt there some supporter of his losing several hundred thousand on this?
Ive seen a few of these over the years. There was that huawktua girl that also launched one of these shitcoins. Did the same thing. Learn from the best!
