The Philly Fed Manufacturing Index tumbled to -0.3 in August, vs. +6.8 consensus, from +15.9 prior, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey released on Thursday.

The gauges for current activity and new orders fell into negative territory in August, while the shipments index declined but stayed positive.

Firms signaled an increase in employment during the month, and the price indexes advanced further above their long-term averages.

The GOP will solve any fed problem by firing another federal governor. Rig the vote through gerrymandering or rig the economy through fudging the numbers, it’s all the same GOP playbook.

Sooner or later the smart money minds will realize that an autocratic economy will curtail freedom as TSF determines the shape of American business and that my friends is when confidence dies and the cards fall.

It’s a false premise and it leads to all kinds of terrible policy. We are basically honest people, I know most are careful to check all the right boxes, etc..
