They crinkled in a way, that seemed, almost... predatory.
Rachel tried not to shiver at the thought, dismissing it as an overactive imagination.

Not all of those things were more or less permanent, but by far the greater number were - shall we say, not terribly intelligent. Not that women are stupid - not even all these women were stupid - but it was the way we were brought up. I rejected it pretty early - and, for some reason, I had my own sense of style before I was five (not that I remember that, but stories my mother used to tell make it pretty clear.) So I have watched it for a long time - and have never understood it. But it certainly is real.

I have my problems with Newsom but would probably support him in '28. But it'd not '28. We are being handed a golden candy bar with this BSBBB. Our party is cash starved. Our focus needs to be completely 100% on these midterms. FatAss doesn't matter anymore. There's a reason he doesn't do any domestic travel or rally shit anymore. He doesn't care. We need to run against what the republicans have let him do and what they have done economically. That was my point. Newsome isnt running for 225 seats in the house and a possible majority in the Senate. Like I said it's fun but its not substance thats going to change minds about government.

in every single election. Yet we still got tsf twice in 2 out of 3 elections and ended up with a Republican majority in the House, Senate, and Supreme Court.
It's great to focus on policy once in office, but unfortunately it's not going to win elections. As much as people say they want issue driven campaigns the results of these elections show differently. Trump's mocking, bullying, and fear baiting was obviously more effective. It's sad that too many people don't do their own research, or think about which policies make the most sense to improve their lives, and others lives too. It's pretty obvious they don't or tsf and his trained pyschophants would have won squat.
So go Newsom. I truly think his main goal is showing the blatant hypocrisy of the other side and how much the misidentified "liberal," press are really just a bunch of right wing corporate ass kissers and apologists!

Ballgame over. Short of a hot civil war.
Agent Orange and his minions know this which explains the redistricting brouhaha.
We need to win it; they need to steal it by hook or crook. Explains the nonsense of no mail-in voting nor voting machines (with Donny's stipulation that all votes be counted day of the election).
And yes, a full 4 years without guardrails and constitutional protections lead to the same place.
The 2026 election is the country's last stand despite all the push back in the courts, on the street and/or the memes/ads driving the Repugs crazy while trimming the sails of the fascist takeover.
The importance of next year's elections cannot be overemphasized.

(25,110 posts)It's busting through some of the right-wing information bubbles, and in a way that can chip away at perception. Fox News giving him attention can potentially be worth the juvenile tactics. Seeing a unique playbook being used identically by two very different people makes cognitive dissonance just a little bit harder to hold onto. We need every tactic in the book going after the orange menace. Everyone playing their own part and using the best tools at their disposal from every angle possible.
Cheezoholic
(3,252 posts)because it IS a mirror into their souls. But my entire point was we gotta get real and go after these people who sit on their asses. And IMO its focusing on that BSBBB. And still I would hope, we dont spend 2 years trying to indict 100 people if we win. I'm telling you that just makes US feel good to get justice. Unfortunately the reality is, we're not dealing with people who care about this. Most Americans are selfish and just want more money in their pockets more than they want political justice. Put it their and we can change this country.

Also, it's interesting that AI prompting can't get an American flag right (unless, of course, they prompted it that way to steer clear of flag code violations and RW outrage). There are way more than 50 stars there, and they're not arranged right.

(18,282 posts)Not kidding. Okay, I understand and even accept the principle that the enemy must be fought with all reasonable means, and am just as pleased with the Gov's tweet-barrage as the rest of you.
But flag etiquette is very clear: the US Flag is not to be worn as a garment. Period. Yes, the other side abuses this rule constantly. That doesn't mean we have to. When choosing to abuse a rule or custom, one should ask what it buys them. This use of the US Flag does not buy the Democrats or Mr Newsom anything, and I doubt JDT or the MAGATs will even notice, given the rest of the meme.
Trivial? One could argue so. But one of the problems we are seeing, especially in this century, is the manipulation of political imagery in ways that are, to me and many other observers, distinctly Fascist in nature. One US Flag on a podium, placed according to the rules, is one thing, and it served US politics well for decades. A whole series of flags, flag lapel pins, flag iconography? It reminds me of nothing so much as the film Triumph des Willens.
Patriotism is not something you wear. In fact, wearing the US Flag is distinctly un-patriotic, as it violates the rules for flag display that the country has long followed.
