Newsom:

California has walked the walk on independent redistricting at the state level for 15 years.

But we cannot unilaterally disarm while other states throw out the rules to gain power.

With one vote, Californians can punch back and also demand nationwide independent redistricting.

... but of course they would not want it.. and will make up all kinds of things why it is wrong for blue states to do this while the red states start up their redistricting efforts..

Love my governor!

You might consider that your Fucked-Up Attitude and your Deplorable Policies offend people of goodwill and honorable conscience.
Felonius I himself stated that unless they warped the system, Republicans would never win another election. Take a clue.
I think Election Interference/Rigging Should carry a Life Sentence at the least, and I could see Capital Punishment as the reward for stealing someone's Right To Vote. I'm not a Capital Punishment fan, but this bullshit requires an extreme deterrent (maybe even Medieval).
YOU CAN'T DISENFRANCHIZE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY LOATHE YOUR POLITICS AND REFUSE TO VOTE FOR YOU.
In my mind, everyone with a heartbeat should be REQUIRED to vote as a condition of residence in the USA in order to work and live here and enjoy the Rights and Benefits of citizenship.. The current system regularly attracts less than HALF of Americans. That's not a plurality of our population.

Other countries make it a requirement, and ensure enough time, and time off from work, to actually execute that requirement. Reps here have always worked against people voting. Now, they're even making it harder for their own people to vote.

I also agree that where it's proven there's been election rigging, etc., that a distasteful punishment would follow. I, too, would not consider the death penalty too harsh for people like the high ranking repubs and tech bros who rig the system in their favor. I don't honestly see that any less a treason than what treason has been defined elsewhere. They're working to bring down the country... isn't that treason?

Mainly because one of our most inalienable rights is the right to NOT vote if we so choose.

Make all the arguments that you want about 'skin in the game' and whatever else. I defend the right to vote one's conscience in any election. Regardless of the perceived threats that certain parties may represent. Even when that conscience says one should not vote.

Now, having said that, this is not the time for such bouts of conscience. I will be blunt here. Neither party is perfect, nor are either immune to the evil of greed and capitalism that is destroying everything. But, the Democratic Party is the better choice to try and aim towards that 'perfect world'. And, irregardless of one's thoughts on the subject, we only have two parties.

It should not bee seen as an 'attraction' to do one's civic duty. It should be seen as a civic duty. The desire to make all of this 'Hollywood' is just more fluff designed to hide the facts of our modern political climate. We need to stop with the 'out-Hollywooding' each other and stick to the facts. Politics is not a game show and the desire to keep making it one is why we are here in the first place.

Lastly, if you want more Americans to be 'attracted' to our current socioeconomic model, then get that same system to actually help some of us, instead of it only 'helping' those who already have more than enough.

That might get more votes, wouldn't you say?

They don’t vote because they are either too lazy, or they’ve been disenfranchised somehow.

in the constitution but maybe we need to now, considering the very partisan SCOTUS that we have.

The Orange Turd said "I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats."

So using his own argument, Newsom could argue since he got the highest vote total for governor and Kamala Harris got the highest vote total for President in 2024, they entitled to five more seats.

Once the 2030 Census data is released then redistricting will be returned to an independent commission. So, if the measure passes the state legislature and approved by the voters, the new district maps will be in effect for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections.
