Musks interview went great: Reporter: What is your thought on the ban of foreign students, you were one of those kids, right? Musk: I think we want to stick to talking about spaceships. Reporter: I was told that any topic is good. Musk: Well no.

(2,206 posts)Musk is no James Kirk. But that Klingon saying fits him to a tee. I guess that means that SpaceX should be thrown out as trash.

Translation of what Musk said: I do not agree with the ban of foreign students, but I decline to say anything about it, because that might get me in trouble with Trump."
I think he wants to avoid getting put on Trumps enemies just, because he knows very bad things can come of that. Which I kind of understand, but the fact that he did not recognize the danger of getting so deeply involved with Trump in the first place proves he is nowhere near as smart as some people think he is. (I'm sure the drugs didn't help, either.)
People who are obscenely rich can start to think they're invulnerable and can get away with anything, because their money will always protect them. I think Eloon may be realizing that is not necessarily the case for people who get on Trump's bad side, and he wants to avoid that fate. I hope he does not succeed.

(19,491 posts)I worked in a Silicon Valley company where I reported to a director. She had 3 managers who had worked for her in other companies that followed her to this company. One pearl of wisdom that one of these managers shared with me was that "There IS a "LIST," if she puts you on it, you will never get off of it, and YOU WON'T KNOW THE SECOND SHE PUTS YOU ON IT."
And he was right as rain on all counts.
She basically ended up firing me, giving me an end date (which was VERBOTEN in this company without the customary verbal and written warnings), and she WENT DOWN TO HR TO HAVE THEM DOCUMENT THESE NON-EXISTENT WARNINGS I never got and BACK-DATE them to make my firing look "legit."
And this, basically, is how Trump operates. Once Trump makes the decision to drive the stake into Count Musk's black heart, MUSK WON'T SEE IT COMING so he will be UNABLE TO STOP IT.
And I think he knows it, which is why he's being an evasive wimp in interviews.
