disgusting.
Musk: The way the president has redone The Oval Office is beautiful. I love the gold on the ceiling.. The Oval Office finally has the majesty it deserves thanks to the president.

(58,137 posts)The soviet socialists looted the Reichsbank in Berlin in 1945, and kept the gold locked up in a special vault in the Urals until the Soviet Union broke up. A rogue band of KGB agents spirited millions upon millions of old gold coins to the UK, and then on to the USA, sold a few million of them, have many more left. The socialists Chávez and Maduro in Venezuela confiscated all the gold they could there, and moved it to Cuba for safekeeping. One firm in California made a deal with them to market the one million (!!) old American gold coins stored there. The socialist government of Ceaușescu in Romania made it a crime to own gold, and all private citizens had to turn all gold in to the government. After the socialists were overthrown in Romania, I was asked down there a couple of times by the government to help assist with an evaluation of what gold coins they had in their vaults. It was so vast, and they were so disorganized, I told them to get back when they wanted the job done efficiently. That was over ten years ago, and Im still waiting
As for Trump and his golden Oval Office, it may make him feel good, but it doesnt really send the right message from the peoples house, if you follow my drift. Its just the White House, fer Petes sake, not Versailles..

there were more on the wall! Wth?!!!
I have no problem telling you I love gold: 22k, 23k, 24k. Tthat gorgeous orange-yellow reflection on 24k surfaces facing each other. (maybe 23k, too?) Except it's quite soft, so like (Subcontinent) Indian 24k wedding jewelry is worn very carefully then put away.
My sis, and I joke about finding 14k, and 18k gold boring. Why?
Well, we happened to decades ago live like 1/2 - 3/4 mile away from the original location of The museum of the American Indian at the then southern end of Washington Heights. We were kids, tweens.
It was there that they also displayed some of the gold pieces of the Aztecs, Mayan, and maybe Incas, too. Those were ?22k, 23k, maaaybe 24k. So we grew up looking at the way more saturated color of that gold. Gorgeous items!
They also had some of the cool stone carvings.
But, anyway, the gold looks awful there in the WH!
Blargh!
