Here is more about the Jenkins case.
It goes beyond the BS simplicity being peddled already by the big media. They are claiming this was all just a matter of campaign funds in exchange for people being able to be called "auxiliary deputy" and carry a shiny badge and a card. It goes beyond that as noted here from the DOJ web site from 04/22/24:
"On July 31, 2019, Rahim, the businessman, and Jenkins met at the Culpeper County Sheriffs Office. During the meeting, they discussed Rahims previous felony record and his desire to get his firearms rights restored. Jenkins claimed he could use his official position to ensure that Rahims petition to restore his firearms rights would be granted.
Jenkins and Rahim agreed that Rahim would provide things of value to Jenkins in exchange for Jenkins use of his official position to get Rahims rights restore and to appoint him an Auxiliary Deputy with the Culpeper County Sheriffs Office.
On two occasions, Rahim gave Jenkins manila envelopes filled with cash- once with $15,000 and a second time with $10,000. In addition to the $25,000 in cash, Rahim also made in-kind donations to Jenkins campaign, including a campaign billboard and approximately 200 customized knifes.
In addition, Rahim loaned Jenkins $17,500 towards a new home Jenkins was building. Rahim never requested repayment because he wanted to maintain a good relationship with Jenkins."
There is also this from 12/2924 from the DOJ site:
"According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Scott Howard Jenkins, 53, of Culpeper, Virginia, accepted cash bribes and bribes in the form of campaign contributions from co-defendants Rick Rahim, Fredric Gumbinner, and James Metcalf, as well as at least five others, including two FBI undercover agents. In return, Jenkins appointed each of the bribe payors as auxiliary deputy sheriffs, a sworn law-enforcement position, and issued them official Culpeper County Sheriffs Office badges and credentials. The bribe payors were not trained or vetted and did not render any legitimate services to the Sheriffs Office.
In addition, Jenkins pressured other local officials to approve a petition filed in Culpeper County Circuit Court by Rahim, a convicted felon, to restore his right to possess a firearm and which falsely stated that Rahim resided in Culpeper County."
So the jury found, and the recipient felon confessed, that the crooked cop knowingly solicited and took bribes for the purpose of getting a felon his right to a firearm and then also that he pressured local officials to do so. Way more than "cash for badges". The media makes it sound like this was just like campaign money for getting "ride along tours".
