Why is it that almost every single billionaire (and most multi-millionaires) desires ultimate power and control? They lose their lust for life (if they ever really had any). They lose their humanity (if they ever had any). It seems as if they love nothing... but, more money. Why? They don't know want or hunger or worry about bills. So, what could they be so distressed about? They live in a country that affords them the opportunity to acquire great personal wealth. What are they so fucking afraid of?
To me, it is simple. They don't build and create anymore and that makes them afraid. They don't know how to build and create. Thomas Edison was an asshole but, he helped bring electricity to the masses (yes, I know about Nikola Tesla and how great he was and how great it may have been if he was given more deference). Henry Ford, the consummate racist and Nazi sympathizer developed the mass production assembly system that made automobiles available and affordable to almost everyone back in the day.
What I'm getting at is that those type of assholes have always been around. Except, back in the day, they actually built and created new and better things. They are known as 'the industrialists.' We don't have them anymore. Today, the super-rich only care and only work for how much money can they acquire now. Today. This minute. They don't give two runny shits about building and creating anything. That's why they buy politicians and judges (thanks, Citizens United). They have no excitement in buying anything else. They can afford everything they personally want.
But, why does this happen? Why wouldn't someone that has that much wealth just simply... relax and enjoy? Why wouldn't they want to build something completely new? I've never seen or heard Mark Cuban ranting and raving about how tough life is for him. He seems to be an outlier. Most of them seem to have shit-loads of Remoras and other hangers on constantly whispering in their ears about how horrific it will be if they don't shit on millions of people immediately. Jeff Bezos somehow always comes to mind when I think about this. He loves to tell his story about how he started and built Amazon all by himself. It's a load of bullshit but, I digress.
Why are all these so-called movers and shakers held in such great reverence and awe when they actually build and create nothing? What they've actually become is the destroyer of worlds. And we witness this every single waking hour.
Billionosis... billionitis... hypermoneyitis... powermongerosis... billionaireshitstainis... whatever you wanna call it, we definitely need a vaccine. Just don't tell RFK, Jr. about it.

(40,710 posts)be bribed because they have so much money. Clearly a lack of understanding of the hoarding disease. I think it was Senator. John Thune said that about Trump. Oh, he cant be bribed because he doesnt need any more money, stupid stupid. Why dont they just take all that money and help out with the homeless problem or something. God for bid they should give up a penny of ir to charity.

(3,309 posts)But, they can't. To them, that's weakness. That's not masculine. You know, the homeless are all useless addicts and drunks. But, it's ok to be a useless addict if you're a billionaire... like Elon Musk. A complete and total junkie.
Because they are scared shitless of being called 'weak.' It's really un-fucking-believable.

(147 posts)Greed is an addiction. The love of money is the root of all evil. They who love money can never get enough.

(7,011 posts)I personally know an "almost" billionaire. Yes, just the one. Another 5 years he'll be over the billion mark simply due to investments. He made his money WORKING. Had a good idea and figured out how to market it. Sold the business at 50 and "retired". He still works "private equity" with other billionaires. They basically bail out good businesses who need capital, worldwide, and take them next level. They don't tear things apart, they build. He seems to have 1000s of contacts all over the world with money to invest in something. If a business comes that his group doesn't think is a good fit, but has a need, they try to find someone better suited and make the introductions.
These are not saints. They are in it for the money, but also are decent people trying to do something good. I believe there are more of them out there than you might think. Anonymous financiers who use the money and connections they either made or inherited to push individuals and mid/small business to the next level.

(1,682 posts)Such as hoarders. They are hoarders of money and power. They can have it all, but it will never be enough.

(5,018 posts)And to be fair, he had help from Bill Gates and his wife. Warren Buffet seems like another altruistic man, and he is a billionaire. But you're right about this WH crowd -- all about themselves.

(2,085 posts)Theres no challenge left to conquer once you acquire that kind of money so they need something else. Politics and power are an easy transition in America because money equals speech and power.

(1,043 posts)- that each and every person without extreme wealth has, as their sole life purpose, the compulsive desire to acquire exactly the same wealth they possess and will stop at nothing to strip the hyper wealthy of ALL their wealth to get it.
