He disqualified himself today

by saying that he doesn't know if he has to uphold the constitution of the United States. That's the headline. If he doesn't know that, that means he doesn't feel he has to do it. Our democracy is in danger. And if ANYONE ELSE said that they would be out.

I know there's a lot of stupidity crammed into one interview, such as "eleven year old baby girls" and other babbling nonsense, but let's not get distracted.

Media, why isn't this the banner headline? He babbles nonsense every day, but this is the constitution we are talking about and he won't say he'll uphold it. WAKE UP!! Or are you still too busy beating yourselves up over not being hard enough on Joe Biden?

8 US Senators representing less than half the population of Los Angeles County. But, that's not going to change any time soon. We'd need a supermajority in the Senate and 2/3 of the state legislatures to pass an amendment.

We should have pushed through some things when we had a supermajority during Obama's first year, though it probably would have taken more than a year to get DC & Puerto Rico statehood through.

billionaire owners... except, there are only a few of them. Which is what Bush allowed by consolidating all the media and ruling that one billionaire can own any number of different types of media outlets. What used to be kept separate (for the most part) all of a sudden became one big orgasmic blob for these guys. They can own print, digital, and video all at the same time, and make sure that what they want communicated gets told across the entire spectrum.

trump is absolutely worse than GW ever could have been, but that really isn't saying much. GW just truly enabled trump.

I think MSM would have to take on certain Republicans in Congress. And even then, they (Republicans in Congress) don't have to do anything. There is no enforcement mechanism that the people have right now.

We could take to the streets
We could have a national strike

I'm not sure any of that would work. You'd have to have numbers that were through the roof to cause any change. 30-33% are always going to be with Trump. Probably another 20-25 % pay zero attention to current events. That leaves us with 40-45%. But many of those people are physically capable of protesting or can't risk losing their jobs.

And want to protect the repuke rule. And it’s typical of the IOKIYAR syndrome with our MSM! He could shoot an innocent person on the White House lawn and he’d say they are an undocumented immigrant and the media would twist themselves into a pretzel defending him! They like the insanity of him and love to report breathlessly of his evil insane antics.

IOKIYAR = It’s ok if you are a repuke.

Sun May 4, 2025, 04:30 PM

is not to try to go after him given the difficulties to impeach and hold him accountable. Instead, judges should start going hard after lawyers or anybody in his administration who are enabling Trump. and not just federal judges, also state judges.

State Attorney generals need to find way to hold these guys accountable using state laws. I am sure that given all that is being reported, some of these DOGE guys for example broke state laws.

If his enablers start being held accountable, Trump will be left with nobody to carry out his agenda and it will pewter out.

I really do. However, we cannot become numb to this. If the corporate media won't call him out in the terms called for by the seriousness of the situation, and if we are not hearing a strong enough message from Dem leadership, it is up to us. I realize that posting on DU is not going to get rid of trump. But our voices still matter. I think we should speak out wherever and whenever we can.

If anyone else had depicted themselves as the Pope, right after the current one had died, they'd be disqualified. And most likely no longer with us. Biden should have stayed out of the race. That would have prevented Harris from ever winning. And we'd have both a Democratic President, House, and maybe even a Senate.

The presidential oath of office, found in Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the Constitution, includes the words
"preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States".
This oath is taken before entering office and is a core part of the President's responsibilities.

The presidential oath of office reads

“will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution”

And that is Trump’s out. He has no ability to defend the Constitution.

In all seriousness I wouldn’t be the least surprised if his lawyers and some conservative judges don’t point that out. The oath for Congress reads differently.

“ I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”

No mention of abilities in it.
