I refuse to tremble before "What if Trump declares martial law right before the midterms."

Sure...the way things are going, he might. But that fear has been popping up all over social media and I'm not going to buy into it.

And there were articles yesterday with Republicans acknowledging that a big Dem win next November is a guarantee of Trump's 3rd impeachment.

Here's the problem.

"The center won't hold."

The midterms are in 18 months.

After 100 days of Trump, America's hurting, and the worst hasn't hit yet. We can still find stocked grocery store shelves.

Trump cannot sustain 18 more months of this bullshit and THEN declare martial law.

I'm not Nostradamus. I can't predict how this is going to shake out.

I just know Trump can't keep sodomizing America for another 18 months without some kind of major "course correction" in the Universe.

but will say the effort will be to declare martial law soon, this summer, so as to normalize it by Election Day 2026.

How do you connect to like minds if the means is undermined?
A lot of high brow writers for the Post, for example, are on alternative wave lengths.
Only we are going to read them.
Polarization is permanent. It has always been.
Assuagement on occasion, but we are very polarized.
They have been stacking the message for a long time.

first, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are incapable of maintaining order and also, the courts would have to be unable to function and I just don't see this happening, and then there's the question of if the military would pour into the streets and take over law enforcement and court duties.

I've no doubt that his toadies in the JCoS would have no problem ordering it, but would the line officers, NCO's, those that actually get things done, go along with such an illegal order?
Especially if civilian law enforcement agencies and the courts are still functioning?

I don't lose any sleep thinking about it because I am very skeptical, and I've got a feeling that his reign of terror is going to come to a very bad end for him, sooner or later, he's going to pop a blood vessel in his pea sized brain, stroke out and either become more of a blithering idiot than he already is or he's dead from a massive heart attack.

The day he leaves planet earth is a day of world celebration.

Glad to hear you’re not trembling at the thought of this oft-repeated myth.

Not that I wish it, but The worse things get, the better the odds are for Dems.

Taking the house is a given (no, the elections can’t and won’t be cancelled), but the senate will be a challenge.

At this point, I think every time someone posts about his being not long for the world, his life expectancy increases by another year.

And he's not resigning nor is the 25th amendment going to be invoked against him. I suspect most folks suggesting the 25th amendment would be used against him haven't actually read the 25th amendment.

executive order" and the only excuse he would have for invoking martial law.

It is beyond ridiculous that in this country, a president can get away with unilaterally declaring a national emergency without anyone else's approval or even needing to properly fucking define the emergency. You'd think people would have learned from his first term when he tried it with the border wall. Now it's suddenly a "justification" for literally everything he fucking does.

I would be surprised if democrats ever win another election that means anything. I really believe that ship has sailed. There have been periods in time where evil has ruled for hundreds of years. The fact people dont seem to realize there isnt some ying and yang, god like force to equalize and punish evil is called denial. Its about time to think about if the D next to our names will end up costing us our lives. Thats the reality here.

had a deep, long History of Emporers, and Czars previously.

While we, though there have always been some authoritarian lovers amongst us; we have a Democratc Republic Tradition of nearly ?250 yrs. We are big, used to more freedoms historically than those other 2 countries. And we're big, how much can we big controlled? (not saying we can't be, but it maaaay be more difficult that thought to be. 🤞 )

I'm not doom scrollinng yet!

What I hope for are the most skilled, and Savvy "White Hatters" to monitor next year's elections.
