Hoping the idiots in my area would rather spend the money on beer & burgers this year.

Aside from the trauma the damned things cause our pets, I live where there is a lot of wildlife that also gets terrified, rugged terrain to work brush fires that too often get started by fireworks, and LOTS of veterans, some who are badly affected by the noise of fireworks.

Those cool drone light shows are much more enjoyable and probably won't start fires and PTSD attacks.

They're dangerous, noisy and obtrusive not to mention kind of dumb.

A couple of years ago, a father-to-be in NE Pennsylvania (where we have a house) decided to have a fireworks display for their about-to-be born baby's gender-reveal party. Yes, there is such a thing!

The man and his brother decided to have a practice run of the fireworks display they would set off during the party. They set up their arsenal and set it off. Unfortunately, the pyrotechnics weren't set up properly and one of the rockets killed the father. So the kid will grow up fatherless. All for a stupid party! How pointless.

The worst part is he died after he had procreated so he doesn't get a Darwin Award.

However I can't stand all the patriotic bull that goes along with them in many places.

I do detest them being set off other than in a controlled situation, generally by the fire department.

I'm fine with some, but the all night extravaganzas can be a bit much. Luckily our pups aren't bothered by the sounds mostly.

A couple of years ago, an idiot in my neighborhood launched a mortar that went off-couse and landed in a bone-dry sagebrush strip separating two neighborhoods. Fortunately, suppression crews and tankers arrived quickly and were able to contain it to a few acres with no property damage.
