I'm not sure I would have made the same choice. Living in a country where you've just angered the government is unlikely to be good for ones long-term safety. While he's currently home in Vermont, how safe is he, really? Is someone tracking him? Does he drive himself? There are countless ways a government can quietly make someones life difficult. I know he was nearing the final stepwhatever that entailsin the citizenship process. Given the circumstances, I doubt it will happen anytime soon, possibly not for the next four years, though I could be wrong.
