Public Notice - Rick Wilson on Marco Rubio's great debasement
"He’s become an obscene parody of the guy Marco Rubio once claimed to be."
Aaron Rupar and Thor Benson
May 01, 2025
In January, Marco Rubio was unanimously confirmed as secretary of state. He’s spent every day since then showing Senate Democrats the error of their ways.
It’s surreal to think about now, but at one point in his life Rubio was a truth-teller about Trump. Back when they were competing against each other in the 2016 primary, Rubio called his future Dear Leader a “con man” and said, "for years to come, there are many people on the right, in the media and voters at large, that are going to be having to explain and justify how they fell into this trap of supporting Donald Trump."
Nearly a decade later, Rubio has crashed into the trap he once warned Republicans about. As Trump’s secretary of state, he’s had to defend aggression toward Canada, doing Putin’s bidding in Ukraine, the free speech-chilling cancelation of student visas, the deportation of US citizen children, and due process-free renditions to a gulag in El Salvador.
And, as yesterday’s cabinet meeting demonstrated, Rubio is playing a leading role in ripping apart whatever is left of our democracy by attacking judges and justifying Trump’s efforts to defy court orders.
For perspective on Rubio’s great debasement, we checked in with Florida GOP expert Rick Wilson, who supported Rubio back in the pre-Trump days.

CNN put together a supercut of Rubio and Trump beefing and suggesting each other have small dicks during the 2016 primary

REPORTER: Secretary Rubio, have you been in touch with El Salvador about returning Abrego Garcia?
RUBIO: The conduct of our foreign policy belongs to the president and the executive branch, not some judge

(14,461 posts)1. One wonders what Trump is holding over Rubio's head.
I suspect it has to do with threats to expose Rubio's sketchy personal finances:

his stature becomes in the eyes of the world. He is truly becoming the nick name Trump gave him. "Little Marco"

very unhappy man who realizes that he made the wrong decision aligning himself with Tr**p.
Just look at his face in those pics. They make you want to know what is going thru his mind as he sits there.
If Marco was smart - he'd resign his position and thank his lucky stars that he got out.
