But what should have Republicans particularly concerned are signs softening within his own base.

The new AP-NORC poll finds that just 54% of Republicans believe Trump is focused on the right priorities. That’s hardly a show of confidence from the party that delivered him the nomination three times.

A new CBS News/YouGov survey offers more evidence of internal friction: 70% of Republicans say Trump should work with Congress to pass laws, rather than lean so heavily on executive orders. That’s a striking rebuke of the unilateral approach Trump has embraced so far.

Perhaps most telling is the latest New York Times/Siena poll, which shows that 57% of Republicans say Trump’s policies haven’t made any difference in their lives, while only 36% say his policies have helped. For a candidate who built his political brand on disruption and results, that’s a dangerous level of skepticism and disillusionment.

Maybe that is why Trump has been so testy. They would get the numbers from the base first. applegrove Wednesday #2
