But what should have Republicans particularly concerned are signs softening within his own base.
The new AP-NORC poll finds that just 54% of Republicans believe Trump is focused on the right priorities. Thats hardly a show of confidence from the party that delivered him the nomination three times.
A new CBS News/YouGov survey offers more evidence of internal friction: 70% of Republicans say Trump should work with Congress to pass laws, rather than lean so heavily on executive orders. Thats a striking rebuke of the unilateral approach Trump has embraced so far.
Perhaps most telling is the latest New York Times/Siena poll, which shows that 57% of Republicans say Trumps policies havent made any difference in their lives, while only 36% say his policies have helped. For a candidate who built his political brand on disruption and results, thats a dangerous level of skepticism and disillusionment.

OP
Maybe that is why Trump has been so testy. They would get the numbers from the base first.

For example,. "I decided not to support that guy anymore in favor of my new, more healthy habit: poking myself in the eye with a sharp stick"
