Is that I dont know how this country recovers its image and tries to return to some form of normalcy after hes gone. I just dont see the world ever looking at us the same way again. I think the rest of the world tolerated him and went along with the shit show during his first term assuming it was a fluke and wed come to our senses in 2020. Now I think they realize its not a fluke and maybe this is who we are or can be every 4 years if a Democrat isnt in the White House. If they come to realize that they dont NEED us, what happens then? What agreements and treaties get made with the US when another president can just come in and rip it all up. I think its really starting to set in for me that this isnt something that gets rectified in 2028, this may take a generation or longer.

based on what Wisconsin voters do each year.
Our allies cannot trust us on many levels. I don't blame them.
The result is going to be a decline in US power.
We will no longer be seen as the most powerful military, economy, democracy in the world.
And yes we have no idea if we will have fair free elections in 2028.

(327 posts)I'm also worried about our country becoming something that doesn't deserve to be trusted. We're only 5 % or so of the world population. I feel that once the rest of the world gets used to doing without us, we won't be missed. It's a lousy feeling.

Trump has done tremendous damage to that in just 100 days, and he will almost certainly continue to do more damage as long as he draws breath.
He has no intention to leave office in January 2029, if he's still alive. This mal-administration is doing everything it can to consolidate dictatorial power in the Oval Office, and the Republican majority in Congress is doing nothing to stop that.
I'm not confident the 2026 midterms will be free and fair. Republican state governments have been actively working to disenfranchise likely Democratic voters since the Supreme Court gutted the Civil Rights Act, and I would not rule out Trump declaring martial law as protests escalate.
