Trump Pardons Donor's Son For Stealing $10M From Doctors And Nurses

Paul Walczak, a Palm Beach Gardens health care executive, was convicted of tax evasion for siphoning more than $10.9 million in payroll taxes from the paychecks of doctors and nurses.

By Susie Madrak — April 30, 2025

Two weeks after a federal judge told the son of a wealthy socialite and business tycoon that his family’s money was not a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, El Cheatolini declared otherwise. Via the Palm Beach Post:

President Donald Trump pardoned Paul Walczak, a Palm Beach Gardens health care executive convicted of tax evasion for siphoning more than $10.9 million in payroll taxes from the paychecks of doctors and nurses. Prosecutors said he used the money to finance a lavish lifestyle and luxury goods, including a $2 million yacht.

During his April 11 sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra said that letting Walczak walk free "reinforces the perception that the rich get away with it and the poor go to prison."

And some people wonder why health care costs go up............maybe him and his family know Rick Scott...............on how his company stole 1.7 billion from Medicare.............and walked free basically

Few of these crimes are happening in blue states, only within the friendly confines of lawless FloriDUH.
As long as the money keeps pouring into Mar-ma-lardo and Tallahassee, it's "get out of jail free" time in FloriDUH.

Is minimal, with more recent chaos and corruption making headline news and dropping the interest in these cases to nothing, the Felon may forget to give (all of) these people pardons and the players may get cocky and believe they are in the clear.

If states tried to prosecute during his administration he would throw up all the roadblocks to delay he could, attack the states with every dirt trick he could think of, and he would remember to add the accused (he hadn’t yet pardoned) to his pardon list. I’d rather their arrogance traps them, with fewer options available for them to fight on 1/21/29

I’d prefer the states keep things quiet and then wait until he is out of office to pounce (or for those not pardoned the DOJ in the new dem administration could choose to take the case) assuming we still have a system of justice left of course.

The $4.4M is the amount of restitution still owed by him on a $11M restitution total previously stipulated by him and the government prosecutors. He was scheduled to report to prison on July 1 to begin his eighteen-month prison sentence.

I do not know if the pardon alleviates his obligation to pay the $4.4M restitution balance.

Best thing about Destroyers, 300 person crew. 1/3 of that stay on the boat for duty section, so ya just need to get away from the percentage of that 200 that have one goal.
Can’t imaging a 5,000 crew Carrier, lots of puking through the city.

36. Maddow Blog-Trump finds yet another political ally to reward with a presidential pardon
Wed Apr 30, 2025, 02:17 PM
Wednesday

The president’s latest pardon fuels the perception that the criminal justice system increasingly works in favor of those aligned with the White House.
https://bsky.app/profile/stevebenen.com/post/3lny263dkuk22

At sentencing, the judge in Paul Walczak's criminal case said he's not entitled to a "get out of jail free" card.

Evidently, Trump came to the opposite conclusion — and added to his ridiculous list of controversial pardons.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trump-finds-yet-another-political-ally-reward-presidential-pardon-rcna203374

But as it turns out, this was one of two such pardons issued around the same time. The New York Times reported:

President Trump has pardoned a Florida health care executive whose mother played a role in trying to expose the contents of Ashley Biden’s diary. The pardon of the executive, Paul Walczak, was signed privately on Wednesday and posted on the Justice Department’s website on Friday. It came less than two weeks after he was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $4.4 million in restitution, for tax crimes that prosecutors said were used to finance a lavish lifestyle, including the purchase of a yacht.

.......Rather, what we have here is a Republican donor, from a Republican family, who was caught siphoning off tax payments for his employees — repeatedly, over the course of a decade — in order to finance an extravagant lifestyle.

Though Walczak professed his innocence, he was ultimately convicted and was poised to spend a year and a half behind bars — that is, until Trump decided to intervene in his case...

Taken together, Trump appears to have created an entirely new legal/political dynamic, without precedent in the American tradition, in which pardons are available to perceived political allies with whom the president sympathizes.

Traditionally, presidents have issued pardons in order to right a wrong or protect those who have been falsely accused of wrongdoing. In 2025, if Trump sees a convicted criminal as an ally, that’s apparently all the president needs to know.

For all the GOP hysterics in the Biden era about a “two-tiered” system of justice, it seems the White House has gone out of its way to create the very dynamic Republicans claimed to be against.
