Mine comes, is deposited, on the 3rd of the month but since in May that is on a Saturday, the SSA site said it would come on Friday, May 2nd. Well my May SS was deposited today, 2 days earlier than SSA said it would come.
Good news, I can live with that. But hey, there's always next month--maybe it won't come then.

(35,570 posts)I tried logging in. Was told I need the ID.me.login.. i set that up, last step, it asks to send data to SS. At that step, said data doesn't match "call SS"

(1,477 posts)If it doesn't come, and this happens to a lot of people, there may be finally an end to this nonsense.
Anyway, today would have been my father's 95th birthday. He's been gone since 2018, but every birthday and Christmas time (he died on the 19th of December) are still really hard days for me.

(24,192 posts)but I checked today just for the hell of it and there it was in my checking account.
I've said this often, that if there really is a problem with getting our checks, then we would read of hundreds of DUers having the same problem.
But this is like when you can't unsee something. Once we learn that not getting our checks is a possibility, we can't "unknow" that. I went for 10 years or more never worrying about getting my SS money, now I do.

(8,906 posts)He was on hold for three hours and still didnt get through to anybody. So I think he was gonna try calling at a different time. They said the call volume very high.

(4,065 posts)to see if he had missed something. Right on the home page it gives you the amount and when you should see your check.
If he doesn't have an account, now would be a good time to make one

(437 posts)The problems aren't generally going to be with disbursement as that's all already automated. The issues will be for those people where something changes and they need to talk to a human. There are obvious some reports about people being declared dead or other issues, but there's no understanding of how frequently that happened before. My assumption is those things happened before, but were easier to resolve with more local offices/workers.

I don't get it?
Feels like dunking on other posters, to be honest.

(148,976 posts)So far, the SSA is getting people's benefits to them OK. I'm hopeful that continues, since I receive them, as does my wife. I'm not posting about every automatic deposit, though. If they don't come, you'll hear about it immediately, and the outrage will be enormous.
I know that. So do the Trump people. They do not want mass outrage. So, the benefits will keep coming, I think. At least for most people who are already receiving them. I'm more concerned about people who have not received benefits and are just now eligible. That group is smaller than the group already getting them. Fewer people to be outraged.
Time will tell, but that's the only thing we can be sure of. We will know if benefits stop coming, I assure you.
