Rural hospitals are the only source of healthcare for millions of Americans. Often, they are also the largest employer in the community. But rural hospitals depend on Medicaid, and cuts could force 190 of them to close.

(2,676 posts)Rural hospitals had much to gain by ACA benefits (so fuck the noise that Democrats have forgotten rural America), but gopper guvs and statehouses stood on cowardly principle and delayed acceptance of the Medicaid expansion. Meanwhile, gopper physicians in rural areas who supported the gopper stonewallers pleaded for relief. The cultural voting patterns of those people will be their suicide and I only have sympathy for the ones who are committed to voting wisely, but get shafted by the moronic majority that surrounds them.

(39,288 posts)About as many people in Wayne County, metro Detroit area, voted for Trump as did in all of the Upper Peninsula and much of the northern half of the Lower Peninsula combined.
Also, turnout for Harris in 2024 in Mi was less then it was for Biden in 2020. Particularly in blue urban areas. About 65,000 fewer people voted for Harris then for Biden.
