He had to drive the thing 50 miles to my house yesterday. The car kept deciding to change lanes when he didnt expect it to or want it to.
So he put it in cruise mode at 70 mph and it kept slowing down. He noticed everyone was passing him
the cruise control was not keeping it on 70.
My sister said it was terrifying how it would try to go into the slower lane without realizing cars were coming up from behind.

(465 posts)Cant blame you for wanting to get rid of this scourge on the government. This will be a huge loss if sold now. But I would sell it and take the loss.
Thats what he said

Not to make light of your BIL's situation. That's scary. I hope he can sell it, but forgive my curiosity: is it not possible to turn off all those automatic drive settings (I'm assuming no, or it was malfunctioning? ) Good luck to him on getting rid of it.

(3,168 posts)The owner is an engineer and watches it like a hawk, so I eventually felt okay. He mentioned a situation where it was slow to do the right thing (merging out of a lane that's ending) and that he generally had to correct or coerce it. Next day, we both saw a report where a Tesla was totaled because of that situation. I think he still uses auto-drive, though.
If it were me, and I could at all afford it (and, actually, he could), I'd recycle every part of it and melt the rest down.
