Tesla is in worse shape than you think

Things are undoubtedly bad at Tesla (TSLA). Its sales are dwindling. Its profits are plunging, as is its share price. There are regular protests outside its showrooms. The Cybertruck is a flop. And somehow, it’s actually a lot worse than that.

The 71% drop in net income it just reported may have been overshadowed by CEO Elon Musk’s announcement that he would be stepping back from his controversial duties at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But that drop is just one indication of serious financial sickness at the EV maker, problems brought on by falling sales for the first time in its history and falling prices for electric vehicles.

The bottom line problem at Tesla is its vanishing bottom line. A deeper look at its first quarter report shows it’s now losing money on what should be its ostensible reason for existence – selling cars.

It was only able to post a $409 million profit in the quarter thanks to the sale of $595 million worth of regulatory credits to other automakers.

...47.6% since this date, last year.
And, up 5.47% the last month.
The stock price never made sense. Now, it's in negative sense territory.
Everyone knows the company is "man overboard" but the stock price goes up?

I read here on du he is getting out of over 2 billion in fines because of his relationship with *rump

I don’t know what else makes sense because even in my bosses right wing circles , tesla is a joke ( he bought a locally made electric truck, a Rivian and loves it)

It shows that a lot of 'investors' are voting for Tesla with their wallets, rather than considering it's actual investment potential.

8. Hopefully from stupid MAGAts investing in their stock

MAGA personalities have been encouraging their supporters to buy it.

Tesla's future looks bad directly because of Musk's and Trump's policies. That's going to keep going for a while. Tariffs and ending EV credits are making it much worse. The article says they make most of their profit from credits and are losing money on car sales.

That is not sustainable for a car company. This company is trading like a meme stock and that can not last forever

the title of the OP is a cynical, "Like I give a fuck."

For one thing, I don't understand paying $80,000 or whatever they cost for a car that doesn't do anything any better than my little Honda Fit. Plus, I have the advantage of having a standard transmission, which I'm convinced is vastly safer than any automatic.

10. Teslas don't actually have a transmission

They have one gear in their gearboxes. The variable-frequency drive in the car's power circuit handles speed changes, and the motor itself can turn in either direction so no reverse is necessary. And since you don't need to run the motor when the car is stopped, neither a clutch nor a torque converter is necessary. All they need is one gear to transfer power from the motor to the differential.

Tesla dealerships start closing, making it difficult to find one that can repair/service you Tesla,
AND the clincher of them finding parts to repair your Tesla......

are passing legislation to kill the "waiver" Musk was granted to sell his cars directly, instead of through dealerships like normal people.

wonder if he's thinking that quarter of a mil he gave trump to buy the election was really worth it, after all... nah... he's just like his mentor, dumb as a box of rocks.

Robotaxis with FSD (full self-driving), robotics, energy storage. A little research into why it is so highly valued is helpful.
