I can understand his reluctance to telling the parents. Sometimes it doesnt always go the way you might want.
My best friend had that issue. His mother was somewhat upset about it, but knew that her first son was more important than shutting him out entirely from her life. I think she was upset by not having grandkids, but again it wasnt her decision.
Unfortunately, he died from aids in 93. I still miss him. We wrote a lot of good music back then and still have unfinished songs to continue working on.
