https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-autocrat-supreme-court_n_680ab464e4b031fa917d7610WASHINGTON However scared you might be for our democracy, you are not scared enough.
The president of the United States, from the moment he regained the office, has been step-by-step following the autocrats playbook. He has gone after universities for not obeying his decrees. He has extorted law firms for having on staff, or just once-upon-a-time having had on staff, people who crossed him. He has targeted for prosecution former aides who challenged him. He has arrested a local judge for not helping him round up migrants for deportation. He has attacked the free press for not bending to his will. On his very first day in office, he released from prison hundreds of domestic terrorists, effectively a personal militia, who assaulted police officers in his name.
And now, not 100 days into his term, he has done what so many democracy advocates have feared he would eventually do, something that no president has dared try in the more than two centuries since Marbury v. Madisons precedent that the judiciary would be the ultimate authority on what is and what is not legal: He is straight-up defying the United States Supreme Court.
And here is the truly terrifying part he is getting away with it. No one is getting fined. No one is going to jail. In fact, much of America doesnt even realize its happening.
The case at hand is nominally about a migrant who came to this country illegally but who for several years now had been raising a family in Maryland and training to be a sheet metal worker. But in reality it is about whether anyone or any institution has any check on Donald Trumps ability to claim near limitless power over all our lives simply by declaring a national security emergency.

(11,974 posts)knowing that if he got back in office, he and The Republicans could corrupt the system so much in the next four years that legitimate elections would be totally corrupted by them,( just like in Russia or any other dictatorship).......the Trumphumping Voters have all outgrown their usefulness and are being thrown under the bus. This is Trump's MO and what he has perfected of doing his entire life...
The Republicans in the House, The Republicans in the Senate, and the U.S. Supreme Court Republican Justices, are so incredibly stupid they don't realize THAT THEIR DAYS ARE NUMBERED......There is NO JUDICIAL BRANCH OR LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT IN A TYRANNY/DICTATOR GOVERNMENT......and in the near future, they also, will all be thrown under the bus....

Most of the media doesnt report the danger. Instead they pat themselves on the back for books they write. Have Republicans on talk shows to talk about how bad the Democrats message is. Talk about very few subjects for hours.
It use to be they were suppose to stand for the people against the government, but they have changed sides.
They fawn over Trump. Completely ignored Biden, and never mentioned a word about Kamala.

(25,634 posts)Trump administration. And they are not alone among the media reporting on the barbarism of the MAGAts. You need to find better sources of facts and information on the news.

(7,477 posts)We are not even close. It appears that they are disassembling today's inadequate system to make it even worse.
I believe I'm correctly seeing a coordinated pattern to undermine public health, let suffering increase, blame "government failure," and use the chaos to justify transferring more money to private hands.
Understand that I am not suggesting that primary care providers are part of any organized plan. It's the system they have to work within that allows patients to fall through the intentional cracks.
Little things add up to poor outcomes: waiting weeks, if not months, to get an appointment, fighting for insurance approval to get the care your doctor ordered.
Leading to unnecessary deaths in young children.
The CDC has confirmed 884 measles cases in the US in 2025.
97% of cases are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccination status.
The number of measles cases in the US is the second-highest annual count in 25 years.
The denial of proven science to satisfy a political outcome.
And now denying women timely access to OBGYN care, free from political interference, endangers the life of a mother with an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage within the uterus.
Please show me the evidence that counters my stated beliefs.
