Trump's poll numbers are so abysmal he's crying "fraud"
Most people don't yet know the scope of what's going on and the Democrats should tell them

(Salon) The 100 day polling continues to be dismal for President Donald Trump and his administration. The Washington Post/ABC/Ipsos and the AP/NORC poll out in the last couple of days even show him with a 39% approval rating which is astonishing for a president this early in his term. It's the presidential honeymoon from hell for all of us, unfortunately.
One of the most unexpected results of these new polls is the fact that Trump is underwater on every issue now, even his supposed strong suits, immigration and the economy. On the latter he is in terrible shape hovering in the low 30s in some of the polls and even on immigration people are rejecting his tactics. Across the board on every other issue, from tariffs to the assault on DEI to the reckless cutting of government agencies and odious foreign policy, a majority rejects his actions.
....(snip)....
There are some Republicans who have to worry, however. House members in swing districts and senators in purple states are probably starting to feel a little bit antsy. If this pattern follows previous midterms, they could be looking at a blow out if Trump doesn't improve his numbers. This may play out over the next month as the Congress comes back into session and takes up the budget talks in earnest. Whatever divisions exist are going to manifest over the next month and we'll begin to see if there are any real cracks in the coalition in light of Trump's pathetic approval ratings.
....(snip)....
I doubt most people know the scope of what's going on and the Democrats should tell them. According to the Post/ABC poll voters already say, by a margin of 70-28%, that they don't think the federal government should be telling universities how to operate. Imagine how they will feel when they find out that in order to win a culture war battle against DEI and "woke" policies, Trump is withholding billions that are spent almost entirely on biomedical research. It's enraging. ..................(more)

This is why the dems are polling badly despite the fact that Trump is the most unpopular president in modern history!! Pull your head out of your ass, Chuck & put the boxing gloves on or get out of the ring & let someone else take up the fight.

(162,428 posts)Instead of dealing with the failures that have led to his drop in support, the president is blaming pollsters and news organizations.

But he apparently finds it easier to call for investigations into "criminal" pollsters rhetoric that's become difficult to simply shrug off.

No, Im just kidding. Hes actually lashing out at pollsters in new and ridiculous ways. Newsweek noted:
President Donald Trump has said pollsters that have shown his approval ratings sliding in recent weeks should be investigated for election fraud. Trump cited recent polls from The New York Times, ABC News/The Washington Post, and Fox News, which put his approval rating on 42 percent, 39 percent, and 44 percent respectively.
As this week got underway, Trump, shortly before sunrise, published an item to his social media platform that read, We dont have a Free and Fair Press in this Country anymore. We have a Press that writes BAD STORIES, and CHEATS, BIG, ON POLLS. IT IS COMPROMISED AND CORRUPT. SAD!
That came shortly on the heels of a related item, in which he lashed out at FAKE POLLS FROM FAKE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS. The president added, These people should be investigated for ELECTION FRAUD, and add in the FoxNews Pollster while youre at it......
The hysterics were not altogether surprising. Trump did, after all, sue The Des Moines Register for publishing the results of a poll he didnt like. So it stands to reason that hed freak out in response to an avalanche of survey data showing his fading popularity.
But to the extent that reality has any bearing on this discussion, there are a few things to keep in mind here. The first is that there is no conspiracy: Polls show Trump struggling because Trump is failing and much of the public has noticed.
Second, the basis of the presidents weird conspiracy theory is absurd on its face: Pollsters cant be engaged in election interference when there is no election, and the politician in question cant run for re-election. (Even if there were an election, of course, theres nothing improper about releasing public opinion research that one party doesnt like.)
Third, and most importantly, some might feel the temptation to simply shrug off Trumps call for an investigation into criminal polling, but given recent events, that seems inherently risky. This president has already a demonstrated a willingness to direct the Justice Department to go after his perceived foes, and theres no reason to assume hell abandon these authoritarian-style tactics anytime soon.
Justice matters.

Conspired with Cohen (who was sentenced to three years in jail for that) to hide payments to Stormy Daniels from the voters just before the 2016 election.
Guilty on 34 counts but never punished like Cohen was.
