OMG! What a godless individual! Such a stain on our nation's reputation. What shame he has wrought! How on earth did this morally decrepit individual get elected president?
Oh wait, my bad. Obama always does, and did, attend church on a regular basis, including Easter Sunday. It is trump who does not and did not.
So, never mind...

The Catholic guilt has certainly damaged some of my relatives.
Rejecting religion is freeing.
I'm a recovering Catholic myself. 8 years of Catholic grade school does a lot of damage.

(91,823 posts)Obama berber claimed it made him better than those who didn't. It's a personal and family thing mostly. There are good and shitty people that do and don't attend religious services.
The fact that those that made region and church a sign of morality supported Trump in huge numbers shows how it's all bs.

(9,148 posts)The RCC is one of the most evil, women-despising and erasing, gay bashing, child-rape enabling, hypocritical institutions and grifting rings to ever blight this planet. And it's still negatively affecting us all, believers and non-believers alike. Look at all the SCOTUS Opus Dei freaks who stripped women of bodily autonomy in this country. And that church far from the only malevolent organization that falls under the umbrella of Christianity. The vast majority of these sects are massively harmful in millions of ways beyond misogyny, including elevating "faith" (belief without evidence) over science and reason.

I do not accept the notion that those who attend church are any better than those who do not.
I do not accept that any of us are necessarily better than anyone else, period.
We are all flawed. We are all miracles. We are all temporary.

(3,863 posts)I was pointing out how much it obviously would be different had it been Obama not attended church services on Easter Sunday.
The right would have screamed bloody murder. But instead it was trump, so, crickets.
